Visitor Centre Dumfries

A commission for a community based textile installation for the Tourist Information Centre, Dumfries.
Client: DGAA
The site for this was a curved wall within the new Visitor Centre.  The project was to have some community involvement in the making of the piece.  The design, in dyed, embroidered and quilted cotton, echoes the curves of the building and the rolling landscape of the region and illustrates features and landmarks of the area.  I worked with six different embroidery and patchwork groups across the region utilising their skills and enthusiasms while also teaching them new techniques.
